DescriptionMint color ground fabric, finished with same color knotted fringe, is embroidered with large asymmetrical dark pink and peach flowers, interspersed with smaller yellow and cream ones, with accents of teal and burgundy. The shawl has a center field motif and a border. The embroidery is divided down the middle with one half including only flowers and vines, while the other contains people both in the main motif and in the border, as well as three asymmetrical birds, of which two are peacocks with polychrome tails of mixed yarn. The main peopled motif contains pagoda-like structures, with four men and two women. This scene is replicated without inversion (one follows another). On the border of the bottom half there are groups of two people – two men with objects or two women with a pet. These are repeated with inversion and alternation, with flowers between them. All of the human faces in the central field and on the border are embroidered, with painted ivory replicas of the face sewn on top. The birds serve as connectors – one peacock and stylized phoenix connecting the floral and the peopled halves, and the other peacock connecting the two peopled motifs. Foliage has abstract color combinations
